Here I am! I'm writing from my little 'admin corner' of my new space. No - we still are not done, and honestly, I'm scared of having an open house. I'm nervous about the rest of our home needing to be a perfectly tidy work of art. That WILL NOT ever happen. And then I heard that when Anna Hergert has open studios, she bakes seventeen cakes. I'm not even making that up. That sets a rather HIGH bar, does it not? (Seriously - she can do anything!) lol I will not be able to do that. I'm sorry. But soon enough! I'm still trying to figure out how to organize it all. I need to get a move on things and start up some commissions before the December show rolls around...
Here's a few photos to share. I love my new cutting mat. My old ones were so sliced up and old. I discovered that you don't have to be stuck with christmas tree green anymore (!), so I went for a light grey. I don't want dark anything in here with the exception of my floors.
My floors - which I love...
I was slicing up some stabilizer for a huge order of postcards, and they looked so pretty when I let them fall on the floor. : )
This set is gorgeous. They are all deep fall colours. The skies in these cards are pinks, purples, yellows, and blues. It is so pretty out there, I just had to pull all those colours into new mini-quilts.
And look - my friend Kari brought over a studio warming gift of 30 or 40 sets of teacups! lol Oh my. Come for tea and stitch with me?
p.s. I've decided to open up a first class in my studio! What the heck, why not start now?
Wednesday, October 1
Creative Quilted Postcards Workshop
10am to 1pm.
I live in the SE side of Saskatoon. The class will be focused on Autumn. Would you like to come? I can take five people. This is appropriate for any level of sewing experience. Please message me if this works for you and I can give you more details. All fabric supplies are included and I do have a few classroom machines available if needed.

Well, I'm on the west side of Winnipeg, so that's near the east side of Saskatoon, right? as for your open studio, MAKE those 17 cakes so your house smells great, and whisk everyone past the lived in parts of the house to your studio and ply them with cake and tea and no one will notice anything else! congrats on the new studio.
Good luck with your first class in your new home. xx
I just live in the wrong place.
If we win the lottery, I'd be there with bells on.
Hugs
Your stack of postcards look super! Have fun with your first class in your new home studio. It'll be great :)
Monica, I live near Canberra, Australia, but like Terri, if I win the lottery... Talking of postcards, have a look at www.embroiderersact.org.au, or find their FB page -the annual exhibition has just finished, and the members challenge this year was "Stitching Love and Hope" inspired by WW1 silk postcards. I did some based on watercolours painted by my great-grandmother in memory of her son who died in France.
Thank you! I will certainly go look :)
Awe thank you Terri, Lin, and Brenda. I am so happy but exhausted. Maybe I will see you! I can take one skype student each time. :)
Thanks. I love YOUR post cards! :)
All the best with your new adventure in your new creative space. I was just about to comment about wanting to be there from Melbourne, Australian, when I saw your comment about skype students . . . Seriously? Tell me more!!!
Baking ANYTHING while you have an open house tends to spark forgiveness from your guests if the rest of your house doesn't look like a piece of art ... you are just too busy being a good wife/mother to worry about a little untidiness, right ? ... works for a friend of mine every time !
Can't wait to see your new postcards !
Wish I could watch !
:)
I can put you on my laptop computer and I can carry you around in my classroom. You can set me up on yours and have me by your sewing machine.
We did it once and it was awesome for everyone! ;)
