Things I Love Thursday

I love how much my middle child craves to sew.  -> L - O - V - E  it.  He asks me all the time if he can free motion stitch or hand embroidery.  He had a homework assignment to do something artistic to describe what happened in a chapter of a book he's reading.  The book is, 'A Stranger at Home'.  In the chapter, the Inuit girl gets sled dogs.  He asked if he could please sew it.  (YES!)  I took him to my drawers of hand dyed sky fabric from Dahn Casselman of Whitehorse, Yukon.  He picked an awesome arctic sky scene and away he went.

He stitched out the girl on her sled with a line of Huskies.  (Love those tails.)  It's all continuous line drawing.  Brilliant.  He really rocked the free motion part.  If you look, there are no long or short stitches.  They are all even.  He's ten.  He has total control when you does this.

I love how un-intimidated he is by the sewing machine.  (He looks sad in the pic, but he was just down with a cold.)  Igloo complete, horizon outlined, edging done.

I love that he signed it!!  : )  That was his idea.  What a natural.  Isn't that cute!?

Way to go Liam!  xo
     love, Mama.

Cute? No, I think Absolutely, Fabulously Awesomely Beautiful is a much better description. I will be at his show any day (well apart from the fact there are just a desert and enormous ocean and quite a bit of landmass in between)
