Through many photo emails, we decided on a rainbow like cascade from one corner to the opposite. I had already decided on a scrappy pieced binding to pull it all together. After a bit, Jesica asked if she could have wilflowers stitched into the boarder to represent her other grandmother. Both of these women had passed away one year ago. Jesica told me of the times she spent as a girl, picking wild flowers with this grandmother. What a great idea! I got to work researching native plants and began drawing after drawing until I created some good continuous line images of those flowers that I could then freemotion quilt. I found this quite easy and was pretty excited that I could pull this off! : )
I'm putting the label on now and she's coming tonight to pick it up! I hope she likes it. It was a lot of work.
i love this label! it features those 70's green curtains as the border ; ) |

Hi Monika, that's a busy to do list,
Jessica's quilt looks lovely, I like that there is gingham in different shades of blue and green. I saw your post the other day about starting the embroidery class and know you will have tons of fun with it. What a busy time of year! Looking forward to seeing your show entries, too. michelle
"go on a dye it" ha ha ha ha!!!! That's perfect!
I love it!
Yea!!! Love that flower quilting!! Isn't that "done" feeling great?!?! Gosh, I really need to get some quilts done too!!! Maybe after our first freeze I can put the garden to bed and get sewing again!!
the quilt looks wonderful, and your upcoming schedule of to do's looks exhausting, but oh so inspiring! I've recently been playing with a "dye it" idea and I gotta say, I sure am enjoying it!
The triangles look so fresh and pretty and I love your flower quilting in the border.
Hey, there's Kerrie!!

That is a great finish! What a variety of fabrics!!!
I'm anxiously waiting to hear how you get on with the dyeing.
Great list, Monika. I have discovered a great Canadian blog. She Quilts As You Go QAYG and does some amazing things. I'm reading her tutorials and I am quite excited to do this. I luved the QAYG strippy I did a long time ago and this gal just brings it right up to today. Her blog is The Quilting Edge
Hi! That quilt is really beautiful! With white all the colours come so bright and your design is great!
How beautiful!! She is sure to LOVE it.
Wow! You have done a fabulous job of combining tricky fabrics (stabilized by the white HST on the other side) into a lovely quilt. I loved the description of where all the fabrics came from as well.
Your to-do list is impressive. I think I have to go and take a nap after reading yours. Kidding, but it is inspirational.
