pin basting a baby's quilt
In her search, my blog popped up. She liked what she saw, asked me for the rights to a photo, had me sign a release form, and it's all done! I'll be in a Grade 12 Math textbook that will be used by western and northern Canadian high schools! I personally think that is SO cool.
just look at all the math here! ; ) |
I happen to have aced highschool algebra - and I mean ACED. (97%!) I've spent some of my adult life tutoring math to kids in fact. I'm a good tutor at that! My students did so well that one was accused of cheating. lol Is that the strangest serendipity or WHAT!? I can't wait to see. I will show you when its released! ; ) Isn't that hilarious karma!?

How cool is that? Congrats! That is a great photo to boot!
Yay!!! Congratulations Monika. Your talents never cease to amaze me :).
Stay inspired!
Wow, that's amazing, well done and congratulations to you. Maths was my WORST subject when I was at school :(
that is real karma. my oldest daughter is only now at 16 beginning to realise that maths comes into her everyday life all the time and that if she is good at the basics she can accomplish anything.
Great photo and congrats on being chosen! I aced math too, love algebra :-)
Maybe I will be a story problem!?
"Monika is a quilter. She doesn't have much room on her credit card anymore. Her interest rate is ridiculous. She passes by a fabric store and sees all the gorgeous colors of fabric and thread. What should she do? Solve. Show your work".

Oh man, no wonder quilting has always looked so hard!! lol. That is cool in the extreme Monika!! And it's a great photo too!
That is weird and wonderful! Congrats! I love your math problem too. A few of us are familiar with it! lol! I loved math too. best wishes for continued good karma!!
That is SO awesome! I always did well in math (but I'm a HORRIBLE tutor to my kids... I have a really hard time explaining...). I think that's one thing I love about making my own quilt patterns... all the math! I have seriously had a few quilt problems that are very difficult! You could apply so many different aspects of "math" to quilting (including the credit card problem LOL).
Ok, that's a fun strange twist!! I do however like the reference between math and quilting... but in a school text book... that's cool!!
Awesome news!! I work at a high school in Northwestern Ontario and soon my daughter will be jumping on board so I will definitely tell her to keep her eyes peeled in her math text books for you!
Congratulations! What fun! I've met so many people who won't either knit or quilt because of the math each involves. Hope your photo inspires potential yarn and fabric crafters to overcome their fears! :-)
That is so excellent!
How great is that.
Congratulations!!

Woo hoo! That's awesome! I love math too!
I love stories like this. I cringe when I hear people on the radio ,T.V. Etc. Complain about how hard math is. I think simply hearing that gives people the o.k. To do poorly in math, to not try "I'm not a math person" bull $&:@? ! Kudos to you maybe I'll get to see the text with you in it out here in Ontario where I teach gr 12 chem and sometimes......you guessed it..math.
