Lately, in my She-Cave (or, 'Why have I never liked purple before?')

I like it.  I like my she-cave.  You'll be happy to know that it's one giant creative mess, and not that neatly organized echo-filled room.  I've been hopping all year so far between threadpaintings, curating, the new body of work, and guest artist workshops in schools.  Now that the curating is done and the workshops are on the back burner for a couple weeks, I'm making & making & making.  Here is some of my threadwork.

work in progress

Like my slippers?  I like my slippers.

This is a redo of Autumn Blonde that was in the Stitch article.  This one is much smaller than the original commission but has a sweet, purple moody sky.  The free-motion machine work is done in the above photo with plenty of blending and long stitches.  Below is the final result after adding the handstitching,

(available)

I've noticed that since settling into my 'she-cave', I have included purple in much of my art.  It must be the lilac walls.  In fact, I noticed that most art I have bought from others in the past has purple in it.  Go figure.  It's never been my favourite colour, even as a child.

I'm not actually sure if that last one is done.  I need to leave it a while and then come back to it.  I have lots to produce in March between commissions and Gardenscape's annual art show.  Yes indeed, the big garden show will be here before you know it!  I hear that if you are a fan of orchids, you will not be disappointed.

I hope that brightened you day!

I used to be in love with purple. It waned for a while and now it's back. I love your purple sky piece!

Purple for you, brown for me. I really never have liked brown... but lately I've made my string pillow covers, and like them.
Love your pieces.
