It's That Time of Year Again...

It's SUPPOSED to be spring according to the rest of the universe.  Equinox occurs on March 20th this year.  It is still snowing.  I went to an appointment this morning and after getting stuck & unstuck in my own driveway, my van slipped out of the ice-molded road ruts and went sideways down the street until it turned around and plowed itself into a snowbank 3 houses away.  It was all in slow motion.  I was going 30 km/hr.  What could I do but laugh?  One front tire was on sheer ice and the other was wedged in a pile of giant ice chunks.  I couldn't stop laughing.  The neighbors must have thought I was drunk.  Thank goodness there were no children or parked cars around.  yikes.

After digging myself out, I made it to the hardware store and filled up on tools: wire and d-ring hooks and pliers and screws and masking tape and velcro stickers.  I'm preparing some of my own framed work to hang for an annual show and sale this weekend.  It's that time of year again!

Prairieland Park March 22, 23, 24

Gardenscape is THIS WEEKEND in Saskatoon.  I venture to guess that this year will have the lowest attendance ever because the roads are so bad.  Nonetheless, Thursday is the night the artists sneak into Hall A and pound nails into boards for an hour solid to hang their work.  I am packing my earplugs this year!

Gardenscape is a huge 'Backyard Living' show with everything from decks to bbq demos to landscaping and even hot tubs.  There are loads of fresh flowers everywhere!  For the past 3 years I have had art for sale amongst dozens of other artists in Hall A.  The venue is provided for local floral and landscape artists specifically.  There is an admission fee to get into the event.  Volunteers will be on hand to mark pieces sold with a red dot sticker.  Interested buyers can leave their name & # with the volunteers, or call the artists directly.  Payment and delivery of art happens after the show so that the art remains up for the duration of the show.  I don't mind this because often my most popular sold pieces will gain me some extra commissions.

The hours of the 3 day event are:
Friday 11am to 9pm
Saturday 9am to 8 pm
Sunday 10am to 5pm.
Admission is $12/day, and free for 15 & under.  A 2-day pass is $18.
You'll have to check... but I think I read that Friday only is 2-for-1 admission.  ($6 each!  that cheap.)  Please look through their website for more info and see if you are reading it the same way I am.

I am happy to announce that I will have a full board of work again this year!  I've been working hard.  See you there.

Monika: I emailed Shelly Wing today and she told me that if someone wants to take their purchase with them, then that's fine, as long as the artist fills the spot with another piece. .donna

I can't fill the spot - all my other work is tied up for Winnipeg. I have no extras but will take commissions. : )

I hope the weather improves for your Gardenscape show. Maybe people will be so longing for spring that they will show up to spite the weather. We are having another snowstorm in Ontario today as well. Sigh!
