Super Progress

The last few days have been incredible in terms of how much I've done!  That is really good news.  I'm pretty excited that I took a chance at a building.  One of the online quilt groups I'm in posed the question in terms of our craft, "What are you afraid of?"  I had to think.  When it comes to sewing - nothing really.  Then I realized I am afraid of buildings.  There have been several commissions where I've 'laid down the law': land, sky, no people, NO BUILDINGS.  ; )  lol.  Never say never.  I've been excited to try out that pretty sunlit winter barn.  Remember this?

a photo I took earlier this winter as the sun went down

There isn't anything in that photo that I don't love.  So I gave it my best shot.  It worked!  : )  Check it out.

work in progress...

I did it!  I made a building!  I'm so impressed with myself.  I really didn't think it was possible.  Now I need to work on the foreground - some frosty bushes and a fence post which I will relocate to the left side of the photo.  I'll likely omit the funny hills in the photo.

I'm linking to The Needle and Thread Network for WIP Wednesday.  If you have a fibre-related Canuck blog, please join up every week with us!  Enjoy your day,

It's working beautifully, Monika. Now...it could be the way I see on my screen, but the colour of the building is very bright against the background...rather dominant, actually...so check it out at your end, in 'real life'...and see if you need to balance that a bit...

It will be covered in bush at the back. There will be more visual interest in the foreground before I'm done, but as for the face of it - it was catching the evening sun and it was GLOWING. It was so pretty! I'm sad that I can't get the face of the building a tad brighter. I'll see what happens as I progress...

Yes, I see that glow. Can you highlight with some shiny rayon? Looks good though.

Monika, this is gorgeous! I love the way you are capturing the glow of the sun on the snow. REALLY splendid! My daughter tells me that you have joined her small band of followers on her blog! She was very pleased about that and loves your work too. She is Paleogirl, in case you have not gathered that.

Oh Monika - when you first posted this photo I wanted you to do it so badly. I'm so glad you did - it makes my heart sing!

And if you don't mind - I thought I'd do a little bragging of my own - I just finished up this piece and I'm so proud of it. I'd like it if you'd come and take a look!

Lovely! I look forward to seeing the foreground frost-covered bushes. The original photo is beautiful, too -- gorgeous light on the barn and the "funny hills"!
