incidentally, the red ones are my favorite |
The funny thing is that a year ago I joined the Embroiderer's Guild. I walked in the room and most of the women had funny little glasses at the ends of their noses. Some had magnifiers attached to those. I remember giggling to myself and wondering if wearing funny little glasses was a requirement of joining the guild. haha Here I am, one year later, all decked out with funny little glasses.

I can't get over the clarity! I realize now that perhaps my blurring close-up vision is the reason I adore zoomed in photos of my work. I can put the pics on the screen and sit back and see all the details (that I can't see with the naked eye). Well... now I can see!
I can't tell you how thrilled I am to be able to see up close. I can't stop putting on my funny little glasses and getting super close to see things. : ) One kid says I look like a teacher. Another says I look like a scientist. I think I look like my mother!
So there's my news. In the mean time, I have lots of new pieces started, but none finished. I'll post some in a day or two. Take care!

Hehe :D Yeah, I really remember the day I realized I needed funny little glasses a couple years ago!
Yes Monika, eventually we all end up looking like our mothers, or in my case like my Dad :)

It happens to us all eventually! It's just not noticeable with some of us because we already wear glasses.
I love the soft sky in that red building piece. Is it one that Dahn did?
Welcome Monika !
Then comes the need for bi-focals ...in general a great help ... but I can't see real detail til I take the glasses off and use what natural eyesight I have left ... within inches of my face !!
Ain't life grand !
Your winter scene with red barn is going to be stunning !
Welcome to the club. Isn't the dollar store wonderful? So is Michael's. They have nice funky ones - similar to your red ones but wilder. Loads of fun to wear. I always have a pair in my purse and in my coat pocket. Going into restaurants, I would have my children read the menu because I forgot my glasses. Grocery store prices or ingredient reading is better now too. I also keep a spare in the glove compartment of the car - just in case.
Get a good pair after you've seen an optometrist.
Apparently, it's fine to wear these reading glasses if you don't have to wear them all the time. I got glasses a few years back. I started out with reading glasses, followed soon by prescription ones which worked even better. Now, sometimes if I'm doing fine work, I put on the reading glasses AS WELL as the prescriptions. I look ridiculous but I see REALLY well. 8)
Welcome to the club..LOL! Cheers, Susan
So loving that winter scene you are working on!!!! Susan
hahahahahahahahaha. hehehehehehehehehe.
I shouldn't laugh so hard because I have worn glasses since I was 7. And I can't wear contacts in the Yukon because it is so dry, they pop out.
I used to laugh at my quilting friends who needed 'old lady' glasses to read stuff, but now I raise my glasses to see close up stuff too. :-( But it makes me happier to know you need reading glasses for close up work. :-)
It seems you have joined the ranks of an honoured club.... lol
I buy multi pairs because I can never find a pair when I need them...
I had to start wearing glasses to see the computer and to thread a needle. At the time I went to an optometrist and spent a fortune on glasses. Never again! I go to the drugstore now. I like the red pair too:)
