I'm not happy with the motifs, or the thread choice. Except for the ditch-quilting, everything else is coming out. First things first: PLAN the border motif. I thought I could just start stitching our the wildflowers she wanted. I worked on them a while back: drawing and drawing until I transformed the image into a continuous line. They all looked fabulous, and free motion quilting them was a breeze. However, they didn't work together. There was no flow at all to the border. So after getting the threads out, I am literally back to the drawing board.
These are loose sketches, uncharted doodles I make until I come to a satisfying design. I folded all my papers in half because I noticed it was then the same width as my border, and I drew and I drew and I drew. AND I'm happy. I think I'll really enjoy stitching out this border now. It's going to look MUCH better. Then I noticed something funny in the photo! Check out the pencil I used to draw these border designs.
Now THAT is some serious coincidence. lol

That is a lot of seam ripping, but I have a close realtionship with my seam ripper too. There is a little voice in my head that always says -- well you put this much work in it already, what's a little more? It's worth it.

I really do not envy you ripping out all that stitching but I am sure you know what is best and it will be worth you effort in the end , you do lovely drawings . I'll try next week to remember to link up.

I unpicked a whole bunch of stitching this summer on a quilt and am so glad I did. I like the quilt so much better now. I hope you will have a similar experience with yours.
