Field Trip & Winner Announced!

The weather is still fabulously comfortable for me right now, so I set out down some gravel roads with my youngest boy for an inspirational photo shoot, looking for more material to stitch up into art.  We saw black baby ducks in the ponds near the road, (I think they were) sandhill cranes in the sloughs, hawks out hunting for field mice, white tailed deer, and this:

three blind horses

one multicolored cornfield

this sweet couple

Prairie Lilies!  ...but look really close.

I mean REALLY close, right down in the center lily.  Do you see it?

surprise in the petals!  : )

oooh I love happy accidents like that!  : )
Have a great day!

p.s. The winner of the 2 ANPT back issues is #11 - WENDY!  Hey congrats!  It's about time.  I think you have entered every contest I have ever had : ).

OMG - those orange butterflies are the sweetest thing!!! What a great eye you have!

There is an old highway near me (from Nokomis to Watrous) - it is lined for miles with pink flowers. I'm not sure what they are. The WHOLE ditch is pink, I'm not kidding. I wish it was nearer to you, you'd love to see it! I took pictures with my phone but can't figure out how to download them.

Three blind horses! Great caption! They kind of look blind, don't they? They've got fly masks on...and they can see quite well. The mask, in addition to keeping flies out of their eyes and ears, also acts like sunglasses and protects their eyes from the bright sun! Ours wear fly masks all summer. :)
