More on Postcards - My Second Workshop!

Hello!  On Monday night, after I did a Fabric Postcard presentation to the Saskatoon Quilters' Guild, one of the members started announcing that she would host a postcard workshop taught by me.  Isn't that hilarious?  Her name is Bernie and she has a third floor sewing loft in her farmhouse that we are invited to.  I still have the outline and handouts from the first Postcard workshop I ran, so I agreed.  (Though I'm not sure Bernie was giving me a choice in the matter, were you Bernie?)  : )

Tara in Manitoba won a postcard from me last year

Bernie is very excited.  I'm very excited.  If you are interested, it looks like it will be Sunday afternoon, June 12th.  There is a limited number of spots but I am sure we will do this more than once.  It will be under 3 hours with most materials supplied by me, for $25 per person.  I will cover machine applique, raw edge applique, pivoting, couching, satin stitch finishing, fusing, and even some handstitching if needed. Scrapbookers with sewing machines are welcome!  This will be right up your alley.

a very fun Halloween swap I did.  these were made by me.

You don't have to be an artist.  You just have to love fabric and thread and texture and color.  Interested?  Email me at mysweetpraire@gmail.com to register.

Here's a sweet little Summer Canola Field postcard I made for a friend.  She ask for a postcard of the prairies to take along on their trip to California.  It's a gift for her friend.  I made some different ones for my Postcard Cottage swap.  Here are the backs, all ready to mail.

I found that great sky fabric at Periwinkle Quilting a couple days ago.  (yesssss!)  I also came home with some beautiful fibres for some pretty landscapes.  I really want to go stitch with Margot Lindsay, but I do not know if that will happen until all my kids are older or in school.

p.s.  If you already make postcards and would like to join our international swap group, the link in in the left sidebar.  We would love to have you!  New swap themes were just posted.

Until then, happy stitching!

~Monika

Wish I could go, that seems like a great deal, but I'm way too far away. I'd love to learn couching. Do you use a special foot? Neat stuff! I just mailed out my first swap cards, and am working on a few more for friends right now. Perfect summer projects!!

Envious. I'm officially envious. Like Becky, I'm too far away but, trust me, I'll be there in spirit! What a fabulous class, fortunate folks who attend.

Hi Monika,
I'm the lucky friend in California who received your Summer Canola Field postcard. I can't tell you how much I love it, not only for its beautiful design and stitching, but also because reminds me of my dear friend, and because it has led me to your blog. I look forward to exploring it and only wish I were close enough to take your workshops.

Thank you Monika for making a postcard of your beautiful artwork for my dear friend (unschool). I'm in love with your work, and was thrilled that I could gift her a little piece of our prairies :)
