Now that my kids are getting a little older, I'm able to venture out more. In my search for some form of learning / mentorship that fits my mothering schedule, I came across a really terrific group!! It's the Bridge City NeedleArts Guild, under the umbrella of EAC or Embroiderers' Association of Canada. I've seen the local group's work on display at the Centre Galleries. It's hard not to stand there and just STARE at all the incredible detailed stitching. Ooooh it's so right up my alley!! By the way, 'Bridge City' is a nick-name for Saskatoon. We have seven to be exact, with an 8th bridge underway soon.

I found the The Bridge City NeedleArts Guild on Facebook. The group meets monthly, offers workshops, and has a weekly year-round stitching group on a night that works for me! I dropped in last week with my son after a soccer game to say hello. WOW - the diversity of stitching in the room was fantastic! There was stump work, cross stitch, pulled thread work, and more that I have yet to learn the names for. Everyone was so friendly, I really must go back. Thank you everyone for your hospitality, and thank you to Caroline for the invite. (Caroline, if I missed any details of the events offered by the group, add it into the comment section below?) So that's the plan - to do my fourth year with the Saskatoon Quilters' Guild, my second with the Saskatchewan Craft Council, and also join the Bridge City NeedleArts Guild as a new member. (I can be in 3 guilds, right?) I'm not sure I can do the patterns though. When I see that embroidery, it's like quilting for me. I just want to make my own designs. I'll start with a blank cloth and fill it with samples of different stitches as I learn them. Here's a link Caroline passed on to me. It's FULL of gorgeous threads, even hand dyed ones! Check it out! Wow, I can't wait. Imagine the postcards, quilts, and the landscapes with all this applied to it! mmmmmmm!

I have so many ideas in my head and THREE COMMISSIONS to finish first. Mandy's is done after I put on the hanging sleeve. (!!)

You are a marvel! I love looking at all your photos. I can tell from what you write that this is your passion. I'm envious in a way. I would love to have an artistic talent that I feel that way about. You are so lucky.
I never gave "thread" much thought. Your collection is amazing! Can't wait to see what you do with it.
