Stylish,

Very cool, thank you to DIANE (click to link) for awarding me the Stylish Blogger award.  Stylish is such a weird word though, isn't it?  It's certainly not a word I would use to describe myself, but she likes my blog and my work, and that's what earned the recognition.  So thank you Diane!

pretty fancy huh?

The deal is that I must now blog seven things about me that you might not know.  Okay.  Here goes...

1.
My name is not "maw-nick-uh", as pretty much everyone assumes.  My name is pronounced "Moe - nee - kah".  I've been correcting people since kindergarten.  : )  Children, and people from non-english speaking countries have no problem saying my name,  but your typical english-speaking person sure finds this one difficult!  It's actually quite humorous to watch people try to spit out my name correctly.  lol

2.
I'm a first generation Canadian.  When my family left a post war country, they chose the the prairies because they couldn't believe how far they could see.  They loved it.  Must be in the blood.

3.
I homeschool some of my kids, some of the time, depending on their needs.  I've been homeschooling for 7 years.

4.
I don't watch TV and I have trouble sitting through an entire movie.  I have so many things I could be doing instead!

5.
I have no middle name.  Neither does my mom.  Neither does my daughter.

6.
I share the same birthday with my mother and my daughter.

7.
I really really like quiet.  I get overstimulated easily and love being alone... though I wish had a sister or grandmother or someone closer to confide in.

And now, to pass on the stylish blogger award!  My nominees are:

Dena!  Her blog is Wilton Art.  I picked her because she just did a major facelift to her page, and wow, I am really enjoying it!  (Beautiful blog Dena!)  She makes and sells mixed media art and creates very amazing art dolls.  She's in Canada.  CLICK HERE FOR DENA'S BLOG

Hagar, at Gilgulim.  I met her through T.A.F.A. online I believe.  She has some striking posts, and stunning photos of the world around her and her gorgeous creations.  Her recent project is opening a collective shop with 8 craftswomen.  In my dreams!!  Wow, what an amazing opportunity.  She's in Isreal.  CLICK HERE FOR HAGAR'S BLOG

Bee!  She has some very interesting projects on the go at all times.  She's a fibre artist and creates wire wrapped jewelry.  She is a member of S.A.Q.A., which I would love to learn more about.  Her next project is to turn a big old sofa into a piece of art.  No kidding!  Bee has a very beautiful style about her, and I can't wait to see what happens with this.  She's in the States.  CLICK HERE TO GO TO BEE'S BLOG

Dena, Hagar, and Bee can chose to accept their award or not.  If accepted, please link back to this post, blog 7 things about you, and chose three more to nominated.  Have a great weekend!

Monika (my German friend says her name the same way as yours), this is a great post and I am so pleased you accepted the award. I have checked out your nominees and they all look like they are very talented people. Thanks for passing the baton.

Love that last image! Wow, gorgeous! The best of prairie scrub brush. What piece does it belong to?
Mandy
Still stuttering over your name (6 years later!) :)

Congratulations, Monika!

Okay...so now that I know how to pronounce the syllables of your name, is one syllable accented more than another? Just curious! :-)
