Custom.

In my search for Canadian suppliers, I came across Nell Burns.  She's in BC and had an Etsy shop where she sells fibres, fibre art, and CUSTOM embroidery supplies.  Custom!  What does that mean?  It means she's magic! ; )  Nell is one of my newest sponsors added to my sidebar and I have to brag about her.

You know when things are so damn pretty you get tears in your eyes?  She does it for me.  I ordered some 'custom' yarn/string/beads.  I described to her my dream of a WINTER DRESS.  I started it a year ago but the corset is still in panels.  I told her I need ice, crystals, white, snow, and even a weeee bit of blue to be the frozen seawater.  THIS is what landed in my hands today!

STUNNING.  Here in my hands now, it is more beautiful than this photograph could ever portray.  Now, in the hot summer sun, I am moving forward to finish this project thanks to her inspiration.

I am so happy I found Nell's shop!  This is terrific.  THANK YOU NELL.

an afterthought:  *** Imagine what the autumn dress could look like!? ***

In other news, next week I'm running another Hand Embroidery 101 class and it's full up already with plans for a second one!  That is so cool.  I've been stitching out even more crazy quilt border samplers for it and thinking up more projects to do.

Oh!  Our quilt guild's 'intent to enter' is due on Monday.  It's that time again for the BIG biennial Saskatoon quilt show.  It's one of the biggest shows in western Canada.  I have ideas... but do I have time?

I've sold and shipped a few more pieces of art from my post 2 days back.  THANK YOU!  Oddly, I've sold lots since the exhibit ended.  It's exciting to see all this year's art getting sent to new homes.  I also have a new commission for a field with a silo in it.  I am excited for that one!  Now if only I can get this sewing room de-cluttered.  WHAT A HUGE DISASTER.  Slowly but surely...

Did I mention?  I have a new mission.  I used to sell work in order to buy more stuff to make more art in order to sell it to buy more stuff to make more art.  You know the drill.  Now that I have all the supplies I need, my goal is to save up for some much needed renovations.  I know exactly how to expand my space AND (lucky me) it was my husband's suggestion.  He looked around my studio before I headed to Winnipeg and said in a very serious manner, 'wow.  you really need a bigger sewing room".  eeeek!  : )  Why - yes I do.  YES I DO!  In the mean time I will just keep workin' away.

Have a good weekend!  One more rain and the ditches will begin bloomin' full.
