Heart to Hand - on now! : )

It's up!  Today is the day.  What a trip it's been preparing for this.  I am pretty proud of it!  It was a lot of work and a lot of new territory.  It's all hot off the tails of my 2013 pieces: Emerging, Rebirth, and this year's award winner: Where Sunlight Falls.  It feels like I'm breaking personal ground using a feature spot to present new work.  I think it's all good though - so far the feedback has been marvelous.   I will never stop threadpainting, but I'm crossing my fingers that people will love them enough to give them new homes like they have with my work in the past.

Featured Artist until the end of August 2014 - 'Heart to Hand'  Glimpses of Prairie Stitched with Love

Heart to Hand is just that.  It's stitches of things dear to me.  It features large stitching of tiny parts of the prairie.  It's a little different from the fine threadpaintings of broad vistas that I usually do.  They are all framed and matted without glass thanks to the expertise of Cindy Moleski and Donna Harding - my fabulous framing team.  Heart to Hand is also the way I measure the yarns that I stitch with.  Here is a look at some of the work available.

And now.  Now I have a break to rejuvenate, plant seeds for the future, reflect on the accomplishments of the past.  I'll work on my studio, play with my family, make a little more art to keep the show well stocked.  Thank you so much to the folks at Handmade House for supporting my work like this.  It's a real honour.

Handmade House is open 7 days a week at 710 Broadway Ave in Saskatoon - just a block down from the SK Craft Council where my postcards are.  Their website is here.  Enjoy the show!  : )

Heart to Hand - June & July 2014

At the end of this month, I will be taking new pieces in to Handmade House on Broadway as feature artist during the months of June and July in Saskatoon.  For this exhibit, I really want to get up close and personal with the prairie, and stitch as beautifully as I can.  I'll still have some vistas available in threadpaintings... but I'm so inspired by the ever growing stash of yarns in my studio.  I have chose the name "Heart to Hand" for show.  It's a phrase I use in my hand embroidery classes when I explain how to measure a length of embroidery thread.  Margot taught me that - the thread need not be longer than your reach.  Heart to Hand - it also speaks to what I stitch.  From my heart - the love for the prairie, stitched out by hand.  For the remainder of this month I'm working on glimpses of what I love... and thoroughly enjoying it.  : )

I'm working on a series of 'Spring Ground', similar to the pieces I made last spring for my Winnipeg exhibit.  Once things get greener, I'll have some summer flora fibre art as well.

Spring Ground #3, 2014

And so I stitch, and I stitch, and I stitch.

I hope you all had a lovely mother's day.  : )
