almost done... Trees at the Turnaround |
Do you see what I did? I did it all by sight as usual - you know I never trace or print or transfer with my landscapes... I think that's cheating if I plan to sell it as art. BUT - never say never. I cheated! I printed the water! I did. I had to. I feel weird about it, but doesn't it look great!? lol It was really windy that day and I didn't know how I could make ripples effectively in on the surface, especially since I am not great at dyeing fabric. See the top of the young reeds being bent to the left by the shore? That storm cloud was leaving after a good hard rain.
Okay - well there you go. What do you think?

LOVE it!
The water looks GREAT, as does the rest of the picture. It was from your photo, so it is YOUR work. I don't think that is cheating.
TOTALLY AWESOME
Oh my GOSH!!! That water looks absolutely real, Monika!
It's been a while since I've stopped in Monika but that that piece is just amazing. I think the printed water gives it a real depth of field look. Fantastic!
The water looks beautiful and well worth the printing effort. Maybe you could get that ripply effect with satin or silk that is bunched up a bit and sewed down so that the light reflects off it differently?
Another masterpiece Monika :))
I love it. The water does look amazing!!!
not cheating and totally amazing finish! you just get better and better! and i agree with you about the snow... :)
cheers!

Now what drew my eye was that sky! Mt is what looked so real to me. Broody. almost
Whew! So glad you said the water is printed. I was wondering how you got that effect. I don't like to trace my designs either but choosing to print your water is definitely not cheating. What a great composition, good perspective, wonderful choice of sky.
I was looking at it and wondered how you painted that water so amazing, then I read that you printed it. Makes the whole piece really come alive. Your photo, your printing, your stitching. I don't think that's cheating, but that's just my take on it!
I was marvelling at the water !
really !
before I read you note !
and thinking how clever you are ! ;)
I still think you are clever ... sometimes we just have to do what we have to do !
I have never printed on fabric ... must get around to trying that, too, someday soon !
great looking piece !
I, too, have had my fill of snow ... warming up here ... just small piles of the stuff here and there.
I love the water too AND the entire piece. It is gorgeous.
comme toujours emerveillee devant tes astuces jojo
Absolutely one of my favorites!! The water immediately caught my eye. I love, love, love thunderstorms and that sky makes me feel like one just passed over.
I don't see printing your fabric any different that using commercially printed fabric. You do what you gotta do to get the effect.
Stunning!!!
