A Bird in the Hand

Between company, classes, presentations, and paperwork... I have not been sewing much this month at all.  I have a gazillion photos for inspiration as soon as the season settles down.  I did finish Steffi's quilt for her late son.  She came a week ago to pick it up.  It was a pretty great moment for both of us when I could finally fill her arms with that great big quilt made from Aaron's clothing.  She wrote to me later and said, "thank you from the bottom of my broken heart".  I don't even know how to reply to that.  My heart goes out to her.

It's fall now on the prairie.  The official Autumn Equinox is this weekend!  We have friends in town for a visit, so we'll be having our big turkey dinner tonight.  We do that every year - say what we are thankful for on the first day of Autumn, share food, and drink wine.  The kids are excited to come home from school today!  It's going to smell so good.  It's been so long since we've had turkey with all the fixings.

I took them out to Beaver Creek.  There's just no way I couldn't let them experience this!  They loved every second of it.  The chickadees are soooo tame, they actually follow you around out there.

So happy Autumn to all of you.  Enjoy the weekend.  It's a time of balance where night and day are equal.  It's a time to reflect on the accomplishments of the summer, and to think about settling in with new dreams and projects through the next seasons.  At least that's how I see it.  ; )

ps... today I'm linking this to Friday Felicities.  : )

We feed the chickadees along some of our trails here too. It's one of my favorite things to do! We get nuthatches too.

Hey, Monika. I just wanted to let you know that we have hung "Prairie Summer" right by the front door, so that everyone can see it when they are either coming in or going out of the house. It is gorgeous and looks so 3-dimensional. Everyone (And I mean everyone-big children included) have stopped and checked it out. Awesome comments. Love it, TOTALLY. Thank-you again so much. If you ever need another cheerleader for your talents, let me know, I'll be at the front of the pack... B

How wonderful! I wish the birds around here would be so trusting!

Coming over from Friday Felicities!

That is so wonderful to have the birds be so trusting. The ones here in Arizona are not quite so nice. Mostly dove, pigeon, cactus wren. None of whom I would even want to touch!

We do have a cardinal that comes and sings for us on occasion though! :)

Happy Fall!

Great bird photos! I remember when you said you couldn't photograph them.

What a beautiful experience! Hope you have more time to sew during autumn, and to really enjoy it.

Those are lovely photos! We haven't been out to Beaver Creek since we moved back---so much to catch up on. It was really nice to meet you and I'm so fascinated by your work! :)

Also coming over from Friday Felicities!
What wonderful photos. I have never had the privilege of having a wild bird eat out of my hand. What a great gift for your family.

Hey, I just saw a column of links titled "Cool Canadians". Was I surprised to see me listed there!! Though, I'm not cool. Ask my girls. ha ha.

Your post made me wonder if you were perhaps a Druid in a previous life. no offence. I wish I were one now.

Also, you must have heard there's someone pushing to rename Saskatchewan because it's hard to pronounce. Say what? Stupid idea. No, you can't rename the province.

It's difficult to find knowledgeable people about this subject, but you sound like you know what you're talking about!
Thanks
