Flax Captured!
Whew- I've been waiting three years to capture a blooming flax field. The first year, I had the timing all wrong. It only blooms in the morning. In the late afternoon, this field will appear green and you'll miss it. The second year, I drove and drove and apparently failed at the directions. This year, my friend Bernie said they are in view from her place. Sure enough - there they were! 2 of them. I have many, many photos. I happen to really like this crop from a larger photo I took. I think it would be pretty stitched out.
Of course, there's always Canola...
And if you are in luck you'll get a bit of both colors. : )
Sweet! Hope you are enjoying summer as much as we are. : )

The one with flax and canola in the one shot and those hills in the distance is my favourite. I'm so glad you managed to track it down this time:)
I love that first photo. Well, they're all pretty. I can picture them done In your style. That first one would be lovely withe layers of hills.
Canola has blue flowers? I had no idea, nor that flax was so exciting. Do most people know that sunflowers turn to face the sun in its travels, I wonder. And what is the closest butterfly catcher standing in? We have this growing wild along the sides of roads here now. One day it will stick in my mind, what it is. I've been told a bunch of times now. Mind you, I'm pretty sure not everyone told me the same thing but I know you will know for sure.
What GORGEOUS photos! The flax field is just beautiful. I can't wait to see what art pieces you make from them.. It looks like a perfect summer on the prairies. :-)
Thanks!!
Rita- flax is blue, canola is yellow. I know there's yellow weeds in there. (and yeah I think all flowers face the sun.) The fluffies my kids are standing in are foxtails. : )
