Things I Love Thursdays

I love all the notes and emails and early morning calls I've received this week from Halifax since the National Juried Show for the Canadian Quilter's Association has opened!

I was a little sad at first to hear A Prairie Dress didn't get a ribbon for first place,
or second place,
or judge's choice,
or first time entrant,
or theme (Seams Like Home),
or innovative, or...

in the gallery of the Provincial Craft Council, 2012

Well there's still viewer's choice?  : )  Regardless, I am thrilled.  I do love that my work was accepted into this show in the first place!  Photos on the CQA website just came up today, and you can see the room layout.  The quilts are all around the perimeter, and the open central space is where a circle of dressforms stand - each dressed with a Wearable entry.  I love that circle!  It's stunning!  Seeing that made me prouder than ever to be in there!  A little birdie got me THIS close to the show.  We know photos are not allowed inside the NJS, but we thought this was okay.  So you little birdie... THANK YOU!!

I also hear that a program guide & video might be on their way to me.  I love the generosity from my blog pals!!  : )  It's like a secret sisterhood.

Thank you for all your support!  I'm felling pretty darn happy today.  : )
Happy Thursday!

The dress is fabulous Monika. I'm glad it got accepted into the show as I am sure it will be greatly enjoyed by all who see it.

It was a special treat to see the dress in person, and I am grateful I had that opportunity. Can't wait to see what the next show brings for you :)

your work is not mainstream...that always makes it harder to win ribbons...i myself am attracted by the unusual work...not so with all people... and who knows what judges are thinking when they choose...keep up the beautiful work...i think that dress is a work of art...

Monika,
I saw your dress yesterday at the Grand National, and was amazed. I took a really good look at it, since I have not seen any of your other work "live". I loved all your stitching, and especially loved your colours. Very reminiscent of the prairies. Thank you for showing it.
