How Do You Like Them Apples !?!

I have a confession to make.  I think I am a work-a-holic.  I got MAJOR progress on my show entry.  It's a wearable and after all the fine details I put into it, it was time to add the lining and then flip the whole thing right-side-out.  I was terrified.

more of what I'm not showing you yet

I think I held my breath the entire morning.  I am so scared of messing up!  I have two more weeks and I couldn't stand the stress.  I called up Flo (Butterfly Quilting) and in a panic I asked, "Flo!  You gotta help me!  What does understitch as far as possible mean!?"  I swear, I put myself on the steepest learning curves possible.  Flo came over and explained it in a sentence.  She lives nice and close, but was on her way to the other side of town.  I thanked her, then finished off a glass of apple cider (XXX).  I looked around the sewing room, put the cause of stress aside, and made this.  It took me 2 afternoons and that includes the time spent planning, cutting, and pressing.  Please excuse the stray threads...

beautiful fall day: super sunny and super windy

It's made of left-over solids from the quilt I have on the cover of A Needle Pulling Thread (Summer).  I love those colors!  They are so '70s.  As for the prints, I passed by a bundle of them at a department store (HOW EMBARRASSING) and I just had to pick them up.  I knew they were the perfect colors!  Lucky me... gee, I should know better than to buy fabric without swatches in hand.  But it worked!  WHEW.  It's just for me.  It was a well needed divergence; a real no-brainer project.  I know exactly how I will quilt it, and I can't wait!  ;  )

I suppose I just needed to get this baby out of my system.  : ) Woohoo!  Feels good, and it's all for me.  How do you like them apples!?

I love those bright sunny colors! Won't that be a ray of sunshine on a gloomy January day?
I too am looking forward to some mindless piecing after the stress of completing my show entries.
Can't wait to see yours :)
OK, now I'm going to have a glass of "cider".

Your secret is very intriguing! I look forward to the reveal. I don't think of those colours as 70's at all--just beautiful fall colours in my book--and a beautiful quilt you've made with them!
