That's what guilds are for... : )

Hey Hey Hey!  It's the first meetings today for the Saskatoon Quilter's Guild!  I can't wait to see everyone again.  Our big biennial show is SIX weeks away.

I am handing in my official entry forms.  I had intended 4 pieces, but now I have narrowed it down to 2.  Sad, I know... but my 2 will be pretty fantastic (I'm hoping).  You know what that means... SIX weeks before I can show you.  sheesh.  Both happen to be wearables, and that's all I'm telling you!

I the mean time, Jesica's quilt border is nearly done.  Let me tell you that sometimes I feel "self-taught" is over-rated.  That sometimes would be now.  Jesica and I decided on quilted wildflowers in the border.  As you know, I drew them up based on the ones she wanted, and stitched them by memory.  It looked silly.  I took out all my border flowers, restitched some of them, ripped them out again, decided on stitching through paper drawings, and taking it out again later.

What a mess.

So I took out my guild phone list and called up someone I know that quilts her own designs.  I don't trust any marking devices on this white border.  This quilt is very special to Jesica, so I don't want to ruin it.  I asked Deborah (a long-armer guild member and quilt artist) what she uses to mark out her drawings on white fabric prior to quilting.  She said ONLY Roxanne's Quilt marking pencils.  They come in grey & white.  So far so good.  THANK YOU DEB!  Fortunately, once I got half way through the border, I was able to stitch it out without drawing it first.

I'm so happy this is working out.  My free motion quilting is getting better.  I think it's all that thread painting. Today I'm off for a crazy outing with my good friend Michelle, camera in hand.  I'll be posting on that this week.  Get your WIP posts ready for Wednesday.  I'll be at 3CS on Friday.  STAY TUNED!  There's lots happening this week.

p.s.  Thank you everyone the terrific responses regarding the Saturday Stitches!  This is so exciting!
