No Job Too Big. No Job Too Small.

Last week I got a commission to make some art for a 4 year old boy.  No kidding!  Be still my heart.  OF COURSE I said yes.  The grandmother and the mother spied my snowglobes at the sale last week, and the mom asked for specific things to be put in the snowglobe for him.  He likes snowmen.  He likes trucks.  You got it!

You know, the art I put in the globes are barely 1/4 the size of a postcard.  I stitched the teenie little 2x2.5" landscapes this afternoon, and they were pretty fun to make!  Gosh, I hope it makes his day.

Almost done...   I added a yellow scarf and stitched the moon in silver thread.  Tada!  Here's what it looks like in the snowglobe!

French Knots make up all the black lumps of coal for eyes and buttons.  I used 12 weight thread to satin stitch the hat and the scarf.  I love it.

And here is the other side...  vrrrooom vrooom!

The great thing about these little snowglobe gifts is that they are 'shatterproof' (plastic), which is a brilliant idea.  Goodness knows how many times we've broken these sweet little things!

They're Back! : )

Here are photos from my week... my WHOLE, entire week...

I stitched and stitched long landscapes on stabilizer.  I used Accent 12 wt variegated rayons, metallic, and holographic Wonderfil threads...    Sparkle, sparkle!  : )  Shimmer, shimmer!

I did some free motion in the clouds and some couched yarns on the horizons.  Then I sliced them all two inches wide.

Next, I hand stitched birds on some and glowing snowflakes on others.  Finally, I spent an entire day just satin stitching the edges of these teeny weenie landscapes.  (That took FOR - EVER!)

Here they are!  All finished up.

There are no two alike.

I love each and every one!  : )

Some are day scenes, some are night time.  

Some are early morning, some are colorful evenings.

Don't worry, the art is in a dry slot inside and won't get wet.

Friday Finishes - minis

I put together some mini threadpaintings of a couple of my favorite pieces.  One is of Cranberry Flats in September.  I plan to fill empty spots on the gallery wall with these...

VERY BIG SIGH.  Would you believe my new camera jumped right out of my arms and did a face plant on concrete driveway!?  :(((  I'm not posting a lot here until I get it replaced.  I'm having trouble getting it to focus properly on macro mode.  These photos will have to do for now.  Those boxing day sales cannot come fast enough. 

The good news is that all my snowglobes sold out locally and I just delivered a half dozen more.
