They're Back! : )

Here are photos from my week... my WHOLE, entire week...

I stitched and stitched long landscapes on stabilizer.  I used Accent 12 wt variegated rayons, metallic, and holographic Wonderfil threads...    Sparkle, sparkle!  : )  Shimmer, shimmer!

I did some free motion in the clouds and some couched yarns on the horizons.  Then I sliced them all two inches wide.

Next, I hand stitched birds on some and glowing snowflakes on others.  Finally, I spent an entire day just satin stitching the edges of these teeny weenie landscapes.  (That took FOR - EVER!)

Here they are!  All finished up.

There are no two alike.
I love each and every one!  : )

Some are day scenes, some are night time.
Some are early morning, some are colorful evenings.

i heart winter

Tada!
All back to back in shatter-proof snowglobes.  : )

Don't worry, the art is in a dry slot inside and won't get wet.

It's A Very Merry My Sweet Prairie!
(shake shake shake)

they make sweet gifts

You can find them once again at SaskMade Marketplace on 8th Street in Saskatoon.  I supply them there every December for the holiday shoppers.  They will be there for sale until they are gone.

* Sorry * - because they are heavy and water-filled, I am unable to ship for risk of freezing.

Have a lovely weekend,

Friday Finishes - minis

I put together some mini threadpaintings of a couple of my favorite pieces.  One is of Cranberry Flats in September.  I plan to fill empty spots on the gallery wall with these...

Cranberry Flats mini  3.5 x 3.5" framed without glass

And one is from 2011.  The first larger piece was called 'Cattails at Sunset'.

Cattails at Sunset 2, 2012  3.5x3.5"

VERY BIG SIGH.  Would you believe my new camera jumped right out of my arms and did a face plant on concrete driveway!?  :(((  I'm not posting a lot here until I get it replaced.  I'm having trouble getting it to focus properly on macro mode.  These photos will have to do for now.  Those boxing day sales cannot come fast enough.

The good news is that all my snowglobes sold out locally and I just delivered a half dozen more.

'Home from the Lake' is now sold from the gallery (whoopee!), and I have a new commission for another winter piece.  That is all very happy news.

Home from the Lake, 2012 7x9" framed & matted (sold)

I'm not sure if I mentioned it on the blog, but I called the gallery and had them reduced all my prices by $100 per piece.  Merry Christmas!  If you want to see what's available, you can click on the FIBRE ART tab at the top of this page.  You can scroll to the bottom to see the newest threadpaintings.  I'm not sure if all of them are there.  If you have questions, just ask.  : )

hmmm... I wonder if they make cameras that bounce?

Have a good weekend everyone.

Shake It Up

We just got a HUGE dump of snow this week.  There were vehicles stuck everywhere.  I had boots up to my knees, and the snow drifts I walked through were higher than that!  Maybe it's my fault?

I've been shaking up the snowglobes again!

I made a pile of teeny weenie landscapes for my "A Very Merry My Sweet Prairie" 2012 globes.

2 x 2.75"

I sold my snowglobes at SaskMade Marketplace last winter.  They called me to see if I'd bring them back.  I found prettier ones this year!  They are still 'shatterproof' photo frames (ie: not glass which is smart), but the base is shiny silver instead of black like last year.

I fill each snowglobe with 2 pieces of art back to back, so they are all mixed and different.  They are pretty sweet when you make them snow : ).

This one is cute... a little fence.  Maybe I'll put sheep on the other side.

There's even some pretty purple winter skies.  They are my favorites I think.  Well... the sheep too.

And one last one... this one turned out so pretty.  The skies are all hand dyed.  The snow is raffia paper.  The horizons are couched yarns, and all are free motion stitched with a bit of hand stitches as well.

SaskMade Marketplace is on 8th Street East in Saskatoon.  They are priced around $40 at the store, are 2-sided with different pieces of art in each, and are shatterproof.  (Sorry - we cannot ship these as they are full of water and they could freeze.)

I think they are so much prettier this year. SaskMade Marketplace is on 8th Street in Saskatoon, and open until 8pm Monday to Friday, Saturday until 5, and closed on Sundays.  You can see more of their well stocked store on their facebook page.

A Very Merry My Sweet Prairie

Saskmade Marketplace on 8th Street in Saskatoon now has four of my snowglobes.  I was going to put some in the gallery, but 4 is all that's left. Each shatter-proof globe has 2 back-to-back little stitched landscapes in them.  The globes are being sold for just over $30 with commission going to the store.  They are pretty cute!  I won't be making more of these until next winter.  If you buy one, I hope you have fun with it.

p.s.  I pulled my art out, finished them, & stitched a little surprise into each one before delivering them to the store.

I hope you love the details! ; )  Saskmade Marketplace is open until 8pm on weeknights right now, and they are open on weekends during the day.  You can also find them on Facebook.  They have a lot of delicious local food products in there as well as art, crafts, and skin care products.

And to Nova Scotia's Thistle Quilt Guild - our postcards are coming your way!  Our guild had a little show & tell of ours on Monday night and then addressed them all to you.  : )

It's Snowing on the Prairie!

I bought these shatter-proof picture snow globes last year in January.
I've been waiting a long time to fill them full of goodness!

Presenting:

* * * A Very Merry Prairie * * *

Wooosh!!

Aren't these fun!?
We are having our first big snow right now and I just can't wait any longer to show these off.

Inside are two little 2x3 inch landscapes back to back.  They are all unique with no two alike.  Yes, these are all for sale and much cheaper than my framed work fyi.  I thought it would be nice to produce a range of sizes and therefore more price range too.  SaskMade Market on 8th Strees n Saskatoon is selling them for around $30.  People can pick them up and make them snow!

Please note: These snow globes will not go on Etsy because postage rates will be too high.
