Every summer since I've been a textile artist, I have had a solo exhibition over the summer. This year, I'm putting a twist on things! I applied for a show at the Gallery at the Frances Morrison Central Library. I have been enjoying some thread sketching of architecture on the side. I made a handful of postcards 2 yrs ago with some buildings on them, and I just love them! So I applied for a show based on the photos I was taking while working in the downtown core on Fridays. It's like a new landscape for me. I began to see places that humans have built and gathered at as endearing. I began to see the 'concrete jungle' as human and full of spirit and character. They said yes! And so for the last couple of months I have been working working working to create larger fabric and thread art of the places I have gathered. "Gathering Places" will be on exhibition for the whole month of August in Saskatoon. The Reception is set for Tuesday night, August 9 from 7 pm to 9 pm.
See you there!
