I got upstairs and put my things out on the table, literally. Then I was asked to step out of the room while they looked over my work. I walked up Broadway and bought some juice and cheese. It's so warm out, you don't even need a jacket. (Am I making a short story long? Yeah, I am.) I got back, waited a long time, and then they rang me. I returned to the room upstairs and was told, "before we begin, I have to tell you how much I loved your dress! I saw it in the gallery. WOW!" Okay - THAT made my day. I didn't bring the dress to have juried (I chickened out), but it was pretty cool that she was familiar with my work.
Okay- long story short. Look what I got!
Yes, I was accepted! I was pretty excited (but tired, exhausted, thirsty, needing some food). We didn't have a lot of time to talk, but they gave me some good tips on matting and framing as well as an information sheet on pricing art. Gosh - those are all such difficult-to-figure-out topics, aren't they? I packed up my art in the big plastic tub and carried down the longest staircase ever.

I stepped out of the building and onto the sidewalk on Broadway, and guess what happened next!? A beautiful dark butterfly fluttered right in front of my nose! lol It's my first butterfly sighting of the year, and WAY earlier than expected! I was about as excited over that as I was at being accepted by the SCC jury. I actually squealed at a complete stranger, "LOOK! A BUTTERFLY!!!".
But he didn't. He was in a rush.
Happy Practically Spring! WOOHOO!

Yea Monika! This is great news! The butterfly probably wanted to get to the flowers in your landscapes.... you should have opened the box for him....

Hi Monika, I'm glad that you completed that process. It was certain that your work would be accepted, but it can be a bit nerve-wracking to have others formally "judge" your stuff, in my opinion. Plus it's just something out of the ordinary, which can be a bit stressful. Any way, congratulations, hope to see your stuff at the SCC sales from now on! m
I'm so very happy for you, Monika!
CONGRATS!! That took some real courage and of course much work and creativity! Well earned!! I'm so excited for you. I agree that the butterfly had to be a sign of some sorts. I love it when the cosmos converges like that! Thanks for sharing! I have yet to see a butterfly, but did see my first fly fly (hmmm... what does that mean? LOL It was in our compost pile... maybe a nudge to get that garden ready...).
Congratulations Monika , that is just awesome .As for the butterfly did you know they are a sign of a new beginning , and I just think maybe someone from your past was coming to congratulate you , I know I am weird .
Oh my gosh... congrats, congrats, congrats!! The whole thing must have been nerve-wrcking and overwhelming, but the perfect result. Your nearly famous and that butterfly just had to tell you!!
What a great story! That butterfly was helping to celebrate! Love following you and your work!
Congratulations Monika! It really couldn't have gone any other way! Now you can celebrate!

Wow Monika! So thrilled for you. Glad that you are done with "judgement day", lol! Enjoy the spring weather and wishing you many more butterflies!
I would have squealed with you! Those special squeals reserved for butterflies and rainbows.
Congratulations on getting accepted, I had no doubt you would get through :)
