A Needle Pulling Thread magazine (click to link) is a very unique publication featuring patterns by Canadian designers which cover all sorts of fibre crafts in each issue. (Strongly recommended for those who dabble in everything.) Look here, they also have The Needlework Pages - there's a list of blogs, businesses, and more! : ) Look around at their site. The photography they do is just gorgeous!
I had an embroidered quilt pattern published last summer and they surprised me by putting it smack on the cover! My kids nearly peed their pants when they saw that! lol. Carla, the editor, had also asked if I would be interested in being profiled as an artist at that time. I was SO nervous that I think my initial reply was, "I don't know... let me think about it". ! ?? I took a chance and said, 'yes'. It was a bit of waitlist, however, THAT issue is finally on stands now in their Spring 2012 magazine.
If you would like to peek into their pages to see this fine magazine for yourself, you can do that by clicking on any picture of their back-issues. That link is here.

ReplyDeleteHappy birthday
So exciting! Congratulations, Monika! Besides quilting, I dabble in scrapbooking and general crafts with my kids and Beavers. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteWhat an exciting prize! Let's see...I draw and knit and quilt and make micro macramé bracelets and now I make beads, too.
ReplyDeleteSounds like my kind of magazine. I dabble in much. Fibre is foremost but then I added mixed media. I like altered books, fabric dyeing, beading, journaling, doll making, a bit of rug hooking and so on! Seriously not enough time to do it all so reading about it may satisfy. lol
ReplyDeletePainting, sewing, baking/cooking, building....anything I can "make". I often have new friends sign a waiver stating they will be receptive to "gifts" I give them. After all, I can possibly keep everything I make....I've got to give stuff away!! LOL
ReplyDelete, Other than quilting I do like to sew garments now and then , have painted with oils before , crochet, knitting , you name it I think I have tried it . Thanks .
ReplyDeleteThat is a great magazine. I only dabble in quilts especially for cancer patients.
ReplyDeleteAnytime I see you mention this magazine I think it looks really good. Pity we don't get it here in Scotland.
ReplyDeleteI love to scrapbook but just started to make Waldorf dolls.
ReplyDeleteMichelle
I mainly do free hand embroidery, but also some free machine embroidery, needle felting, crazy quilting, and some scrapbooking.
ReplyDeleteQuilting, hand embroidery, basketry, and crazy quilting are some of the things I enjoy. I also love seeing daily what you have been up to through your email notices I receive!!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite crafts du jour are quilting, needlework (like embroidery, punchneedle and wool work) as well as zentangling!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the opportunity to win this Canadian publication.

I've never seen the mag in person - I'd love to have a look! I mostly quilt and make small sewing/embroidery projects that aren't clothing - bags..etc. Photography is my second passion, followed by cooking.
ReplyDeleteI have tried my hand at many crafts these past 7 years. I love to do art quilt hangings, belong to a photography club and occassionally get the urge to paint in acrylics.
ReplyDeleteI will try anything! At the moment, fiber art, knitting, painting, and mosaics.
ReplyDeleteCongrats, cover girl! Your work is amazing.
ReplyDeleteI don't know that I should list everything I dabble in...LOL... I sew - these days lots of quilty things - but I also sew clothes and home decor items, along with bags, toys... well just about anything. I crochet, knit, embroidery, needlepoint and then there's candle making, flower arranging along with growing and drying flowers/herbs. Oh, and did I mention I love cooking and backing? Okay, I'm sure I've scared you with this list. I'll stop now. ;o)
Whoops...meant to type baking... not backing! ;o)

ReplyDeleteHas it actually been your birthday YET?! Wow lots of goodies! What crafts DON'T I dabble in? I 'dabble' in art journaling, hand dyeing, fabric painting... taking a photography class through correspondence with my son now too!

I have always been a crafty lady, dabbling in tole painting, flower arranging, scrapbooking, a cake decorator by trade, and on and on, but through it all there has always been "a Needle Pulling Thread" or yarn or floss etc. My first love is embroidery and I can,t ever see me putting that aside, but I crochet, knit, and quilt as well. I would love a chance at the magazines. By the way lovely cover shot of your quilt!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your anniversary!
ReplyDeleteI like to do various kinds of crafts - at the moment I quilt and do a lot of embroidery; I'm totally hooked on crewel. I do also occasionally knit and crochet and do some DIY like paint furniture, make shelves etc.
