My Sweet Prairie Quilt (in progress)

Every summer, after months of thread painting, I literally get a quilt out of my system and it feels GOOD.  It seems to balance me.  I made a trip to our local quilt shop last week to buy beige as you might of heard.  I came away with these...

On Canada Day weekend I chopped it all up and sewed it all back together again.  /  why does that sound so crazy??  /

TADA!  Quilt top nearly done...  It was a good experience to cut and piece without perfection.  I liked it.  I've never made a quilt this way before.

There's no pattern to this besides the fact that it's a log cabin.  The centers are grey solids that I will be embroidering some love into.  The 'logs' are all the other fabrics placed however I felt like placing them.  They are cut in all directions and of varying widths.  It's my log cabin - my way.

Here is part of the quilt top, hanging fashionably in the wind on my kids' badminton net.  : )  Since then I have added a patchwork border in lots more little squares, and then the yellow & white floral as an outer border.  I can hardly wait to hand quilt this.  They whole thing... maybe in that raspberry color to totally show off the stitches.
