I'm really enjoying
The Needle & Thread Network! We have Canadian quilters, fibre artists, knitters, embroiderers, rug hookers, felters. Weavers are welcome too! We do "WIP Wednesday" to link up work in progress. We have "Feature Fridays" if you want to have your moment of fame showing off your blog. And now we have a "Canadian Call for Entries" page as well. I love the way it's growing!
I'm linking up my work in progress. I have seven little Prairie Rugs done and the edges steam-pressed back. Now I need to stitch the back edges down and figure out how the heck to present these. Mount them? Wood... fabric... What color? Hmmm... I'll have to think about this. These are all very precious to me so I want them to be displayed well.

Do recognize that last one? It's inspired by the photo I took on Christmas Morning. I did it from memory - but I got it pretty good hey? lol I've stared at that sky photo for HOURS. I had better remember it! : )

ReplyDeleteSo nice Monika..you know I love your work. I don't always get to leave a comment, right now is crazy with cleaning and yard work. Trying to get my display area ready for tourist season....but I always have a peek...wonderful work.

ReplyDeleteAahhh! I do like these. Can you hook a thin border and then fold back? Or maybe a coloured cardstock backing that sticks out a bit?
ReplyDeleteWow, how much fun to see them all together like this. I can tell you are enjoying making them... it shows in the work. Lovely interpretation of prairies! I like the idea of mounting them on boards... but I'm sure you'll come up with the right look :)
ReplyDeleteWhat about a black quilted border around the outside. You could sort of 'mat' them but with fabric. I'm not sure if I'm explaining this right. Then, either a grey or silver metal (for contrast) skinny frame?

ReplyDeleteThese are lovely and would look great mounted on wood as this type of rug making evokes the pioneer ethic so a rustic look maybe would be appropriate.

These are fabulous! You might stitch them to a strethed canvas, that way they hang well. This is my favorite way to display rugs at galleries.
