Works in Progress Wednesday

What am I working on?  Lots.  But I did get some things finished.  These two quilts are finished and off to hang at McNally Robinson's bookstore from March 2 - mid May, 2011.

The top one is "Pink Parliament" with the twelve little embroidered baby owls with button eyes.  I think I may make a pattern for this and offer to teach homeschool kids in the fall.  hmmm.  The bottom red quilt you see is this one.  Both are for sale.

Whew - just looking at it makes me tired.  That gorgeous quilt was so much work.  Anyone who tells you straight line quilting is easier is nuts!  I could have free motion quilted this one in less than half the time, but I'm glad I didn't because this quilt was meant to have the squares all echoed.

So that's done.  Here's what's in the works.  At last night's guild meeting, I brought home two charity quilts to bind.  That's from the Serendipity committee of the Saskatoon Quilter's Guild.  By the time you read this, they will most likely be finished.   : )  The binding is already made and stitched on the fronts as of this morning.  The labels are ready and will be sewn in under the binding.

I'm nearing the finish of this thread painting.  A Saskatchewan man came across my etsy site before Christmas and asked if I could do his mother's farmstead.  I knew I couldn't finish it by the holidays so I offered to have it done for Mother's Day.  He's very excited and encouraged me to blog the progress.  The farm now belongs to someone else, so this is another one of those important keepsakes like "Grandma's Cabin" was.  If you recognize this, please keep it top secret.  We wouldn't want to spoil the surprise!

It's painfully tiny, which is why I'm using thread instead of fabric.  So far so great.  I'm really enjoying this!

It's an aerial view of a large farmyard full of buildings with the harvested crop taking up more than half of the bottom of the photo.  It is 8x10 and looks fabulous in an oval.

I need to head out today to find some more thread.  HA!  Sounds funny after Saturday's post doesn't it?  But I just don't have the right greens for the yard. 

It's now six weeks until the Gardenscapes show & sale.  I'm thinking I might just exhibit some of my photos.  I had planned to hang some fibre art.  What do you think?  The pressure is off since I decided not to get juried with the craft council.  I'm just not ready.  I'm still experimenting with a lot of things plus I'm feeling un-inspired to do landscapes.  I think I need the season shifts out of winter first.

However, to my defense, I have decided to put in quilts at the HUGE show in the fall.  The theme is making waves... and I just got my special ordered fabric in the mail!!!  I am giddy over this one!

tee hee hee!!!   : )  I've been busy with the old EQ5 trying things out.  No rush.  That will get started after I am done Mandy's wallhanging and the quilt for Jesica from her grandma's scraps.  First things first: Mandy's.
